Frequently asked questions
ONERO™ is an evidence-based exercise program developed from the LIFTMOR study and the LIFTMOR-M study. It’s designed specifically to prevent osteoporotic fractures and improve bone density, strength, balance, and function using targeted resistance and impact exercises. You can check out the Onero website here to learn more, or check out the podcast episode below with Professor Belinda Beck of ONERO™ with Dr Peter Attia on The Drive podcast.
ONERO™ is ideal for individuals with low bone mass, including those diagnosed with osteoporosis or osteopenia. It’s especially beneficial for postmenopausal women and older adults who want to reduce fracture risk and maintain independence.
Yes – ONERO™ has been proven to be safe and effective when delivered by trained professionals, such as Accredited Exercise Physiologists. Exercises are closely supervised and tailored to individual ability, ensuring proper form and reducing the risk of injury.
The program includes high-intensity barbell resistance exercises and safe impact exercises, along with balance and core strengthening exercises. All movements are modified to suit your ability.
Many people notice improvements in strength, balance, and confidence within a few weeks of starting ONERO™. Measurable increases in bone density typically occur after several months, with the most significant gains often seen after 12 months of consistent participation.
To help you track your progress, we conduct an annual reassessment at the 12-month mark. This includes repeating the ONERO™ functional tests and comparing updated DXA scan results. This allows you to clearly see how much you've improved.
Not at all. ONERO™ is suitable for beginners and those who haven’t exercised in years. Every session is supervised by an accredited Exercise Physiologist who will guide you through each movement, modify exercises to suit your ability, and help you build strength and confidence at your own pace.
A referral is not required to join ONERO™. However, if you’d like to access the initial assessment through Medicare, you will need a referral from your GP under a suitable care plan (e.g. Chronic Disease Management plan).
Before starting classes, you’ll complete a one-on-one, 60-minute assessment. We’ll discuss your goals, medical and bone health history, and perform basic tests of strength, balance, and mobility. You’ll also trial key ONERO™ exercises so you feel confident starting your first class.
Yes – your initial assessment may be bulk-billed with a GP referral. You may also be eligible for rebates from your private health fund depending on your level of extras cover. ONERO™ classes are generally not Medicare-funded but may be claimable under private extras.
Simply book an initial assessment through our website or get in touch directly. From there, we’ll guide you step-by-step to get started.
ONERO™ classes at WellnessMe are currently held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:00 pm, and Saturdays at 10:00 am. Each session runs for approximately 45–50 minutes. Classes are kept small (maximum 4 participants) to ensure close supervision and individualised support. Regular attendance, ideally twice per week, is recommended to achieve the best results. More class times will be added in the future as demand increases.
Each ONERO™ class runs for approximately 45 to 50 minutes. Sessions are designed to be efficient, effective, and easy to fit into your weekly routine.
For optimal results, we recommend attending at least two ONERO™ classes per week. Consistent participation helps build strength, improve balance, and support meaningful improvements in bone density. Research has shown that twice-weekly training is both safe and effective for people with low bone mass. Attending regularly also helps reinforce good technique and keeps you motivated over the long term.
ONERO™ is delivered in small group classes of up to 4 participants. This structure allows for individual attention and supervision, while also creating a social and supportive environment to help you stay motivated.
ONERO™ classes are held on-site in Wellard, WA, in a custom-built exercise studio located in a shed along our driveway. The space is fully equipped, air-conditioned, welcoming, and private. There is plenty of off-street parking available on-site.
Yes – we offer a full reassessment every 12 months to track your progress. This includes repeating the ONERO™ functional tests such as strength, balance, and mobility measures. We also recommend participants organise a follow-up DXA scan if possible, so we can compare changes in bone density alongside your physical improvements. These results help demonstrate how far you’ve come and guide your continued progression in the program.
